Part 1 - Trafalgar Square and the Horse Guards
Part 2 - St James's Park and Buckingham Palace
After getting lucky with the sunshine and taking some great shots of Buckingham Palace, we took a walk along Birdcage Walk and came upon one of my attractions in London - Big Ben.
Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are so beautiful and the architecture is exquisite. The level of detail is really amazing. I wish my pictures could do them justice.
If you are facing Big Ben like this, then Westminster Abbey is to your right, Parliament Square is behind you and the river Thames is behind Big Ben.
It always fills me with pride at how long I have to wait to take a photo of Nelson Mandela. There is always a nice long line of tourists before me. I do prefer the statue in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, South Africa though.
By this time of course, we were starving! We decided to walk back up Whitehall and I was most taken by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as seen from Whitehall.
Each one of those statues on the building is unique and they represent the various areas of trade to the left and the various areas of the world to the right. I think one day I will have to go back to the building and photograph some of the detail so that you can know what I'm on about as this really is a spectacular building. That is The Cenotaph in front of the building which is the main war memorial in London.
