I spent Thursday touring around central London with my in-laws who are over from South Africa. Part one can be found here. We left off at the Horse Guards and had walked through the building into St James's Park. Incidentally, my Dad read this blog and called up to say that the horses are very well looked after indeed and are trained not to be upset by milling crowds or loud noises.
I had a quiet moment while my in-laws went to the bathroom. This shot is taken looking back onto the Old Admiralty Building and the Horse Guards Building from the entrance to St James's Park. I loved the vision of this tiny little tree surrounded by absolute giants. It reminded me of my undertaking to always learn from those around me and to continue on my quest to be inspired by others. Thankfully, my in-laws were soon ready and I was saved from getting any more soppy.
A short while ago, I was bemoaning the fact that I had not yet managed to take a photograph of a squirrel or a fox. Thankfully, the squirrels in St James's Park are not as timid as those in Sidcup and I finally got my wish.
The Eastern Gray Squirrel is famous for having displaced the red squirrels in locations around England so I guess my next goal is to photograph a red squirrel!
In fact, I would say that these squirrels were quite the opposite of timid - they were positively brazen!! I was quite taken with this young chap.
The next attraction on our walk was the majestic Buckingham Palace. We were really fortunate as the sun decided to come out for a while and we were able to take some nice photos!
It is hard to explain how big the palace is but you can click on the photos to see bigger shots. On the one hand it is massive but then on the other hand, it seems smaller than you've seen it before on television.
Time's running out again! I'll have to continue this tomorrow!
